What is Holter Monitoring

A Holter Monitor is a small recording device that is specifically recording the rhythm and beat of your heart.  This is a small device that you wear for 24 hours or longer and you can go your normal life outside of your Doctor’s office.   The Holter monitor records your hearts rhythm over a period of time and can tell if you have any irregular heartbeats.

This device is typically used if an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) doesn’t provide your physician enough information about the hearts condition.   If there are any irregularities with your heart that are happening less frequently or over longer periods of time, a Holter monitor can record and provide information over these longer periods of time.
